It would be an understatement to say that 95% of new entrepreneurs and small business owners are struggling to bring new customers into their business every day.
… and really it’s not their fault.
It can be hard to consistently speak with the RIGHT audience who wants to buy your stuff. It can take time, money for testing, and a good bit of frustration (sometimes).
I don’t know about you, but I hate wasting money testing things.
So keep reading because today we’re going to dive in to the nitty-gritty on creating your own lead generation machine that will consistently deliver fresh customers to your door and then we’ll cover my full Clickfunnels Review for 2018.
First let’s get the basics out of the way…
Before jumping into the Clickfunnels review let’s talk a bit about what it’s used for…
Clickfunnels is sales funnel software that provides you a dedicated place to send potential customers, make sales right on the internet without ever needing to “speak” with a customer on the phone, and collect their contact information if your business model does involve speaking with them.
Does your business need a sales funnel?
It doesn’t matter what type of business you have… If you are selling anything at all from socks to cupcakes, you need a dedicated sales funnel.
What if you already have a really nice website?
Sorry, you still need a sales funnel.
When you send traffic, potential customers, or new business to a “regular” website they are presented with too much information. Your website probably has articles, pages, images, links, reviews, and all kinds of stuff on it (which is normal).
The problem is information overload.
When someone visits your website chances are they will get overwhelmed and not take any action… they won’t call, they won’t email, they won’t perform your desired action.
Which again, this is normal.
On a “regular” website the average conversion rate (the rate at which a visitor takes your desired action) is between 1-3%… that’s poor by anyone’s standards, right? More than 97% of your visitors will leave and never become a customer.
With a funnel you send your audience and potential customers to a dedicated page that gives visitors ONLY two options…
#1 take your desired action: call, book, buy, or subscribe to your email list
Recently, I won a Marketing Award for being one of the Top 1% Conversion Marketers or 2017 for having a landing page (the first page in your sales funnel) that converted my visitors at a rate of 75.45%.
This means that roughly 75 our of every 100 people I sent to this page converted into customers.
Pretty crazy difference, right?
75 out of 100
or… 3 out of 100… that’s a no brainer in my book. It’s all about the math.
So essentially Clickfunnels is used for growing your business, collecting new leads, and making new sales.
Here are some Clickfunnels examples for the good looking templates they provide:
Clickfunnels will automatically create all of the web pages for you pre-filled out with template style text.
Replace the text with your own using their suggestions and BOOM you’re ready to rock.
You’ll notice above that I mentioned a “funnel”.
A funnel is a series of interconnected webpages, each designed to fulfill a specific job in your customer acquisition process.
Here’s a quick example:
If you were selling an information product you would send your traffic to the squeeze page, which would capture their email so you can follow up with them later and then forward them to the sales page.
You can make your sales offer on the sales page and if they buy you forward them to the order confirmation page and then the download page.
If you were selling physical products you can use this same strategy except instead of a download page it would end at the order confirmation page.
QUICK NOTE: My personal physical product e-commerce funnels convert over 18% of first time visitors into paying customers.
The average conversion rate on a standard e-commerce platform? Under 4%. I never liked math until I got into business lol…
But what if you’re selling services like plumbing or carpet cleaning?
Same thing, except once they submit their info on the squeeze page you send them to your calendar to book a call.
What if you own a restaurant?
Same thing, entice them with a coupon or unbeatable free offer on the squeeze page, collect their email on the squeeze page, and then send them to a thank you page.
I won’t get much more into this today, since there are plenty of other posts about using Clickfunnels around the blog.
(Plus Clickfunnels comes with point and click templates that include instruction videos like you see in the screenshot above.)
If you have never created a sales funnel before then ClickFunnels has you covered with easy to use templates.
The owner and creator of Clickfunnels, Russell Brunson, has identified 22 different types of funnels that he has used successfully in his own business.
The funnel types fall into 3 main categories: Lead Capture Funnels, Sales Page Funnels, and Event Funnels.
But there are some other special funnels like Membership funnels that you can create as well.
They include simple funnels like the Squeeze Page Funnel which collects a visitor’s email address and then sends them to a Thank you page when signing up.
And more sophisticated sales funnels like the 2-Step TripWire Funnel which sells a low ticket front-end product (your tripwire) and then up-sells them to your more expensive products using Order Form bumps, and a magical thing called One Click upsells or Downsells.
In addition, each funnel type has its own set of free templates and paid templates.
So even if you don’t have any design skills, your funnel pages will all have a consistent, professional design.
Here’s a high-level overview of how to create your first sales funnel:
After just a few clicks of the mouse your sales funnel is now live and you can start sending traffic to it.
Pages in ClickFunnels are laid out using sections that can have any number of rows and columns.
You can then use your mouse to drag elements around and place them where you want them.
While not as flexible as something like Thrive Themes it’s still very good and it can be used to achieve pretty much any design you want.
Too be honest here, I can create pages from scratch in LESS than half the time it takes me in Thrive Themes. One of the best things I've ever done in my business is listen to this... 'Money Favors Speed!' Something ugly is better than nothing. Get the ball rolling and then fix it as you go.Click To Tweet
Their editor is very intuitive to use compared to most others.
Selecting components on the page and moving them where you want is very seamless.
Text elements can be edited inline, and modifying any element’s properties can be done through the sidebar “control panel”.
You’re not spending a lot of time hunting for what you want to do.
The important thing is that no coding is required. So you don’t have to spend time learning HTML or CSS or any technical things like that.
Elements are essential for giving you the flexibility to design the pages how you want and ClickFunnels gives you a wide variety of them.
Basic elements include Headlines, Image, Text, Button, Input forms and Videos.
ClickFunnels also includes a number of advanced elements like:
Each element can be easily customized in the editor sidebar. With most elements, you can change common properties like background colors, margins, fonts, and alignment.
I’ll be adding to this Clickfunnels review soon with an full video review of the page editor.
Inside the Settings tab of any of your funnels, you can grab your Share Funnel URL.
When someone visits this URL, they will be able to add this funnel directly into their account if they are an existing ClickFunnels member.
If they aren’t a member yet, they can sign up for the ClickFunnels 14-day free trial and then get your funnel added to their account.
What’s really awesome is that this share url also acts as your affiliate link, and you will get a recurring commission if this new user ends up staying on.
Is Clickfunnels A Pyramid Scheme?
This was a question I got, and the Clickfunnels review section is the best place to answer that…
No, it isn’t.
Their business model includes allowing people to recommend their product to others and receive a commission if the person purchases. This is known as affiliate marketing and has been around for as long as the internet! Amazon is also big on affiliates.
ClickFunnels has one of the best affiliate programs out there.
They pay recurring income for every active ClickFunnels user you refer and you can win cool prizes like helping make payments toward your own dream car if you get to a certain number of referrals every month.
They also have a 2-tier affiliate program for referring people to the ClickFunnels affiliate program. You can earn 5% commissions on all sales they people who sign up under you make.
And you don’t have to just promote ClickFunnels itself. You can earn 40% commissions by selling DotCom Secrets, Expert Secrets or even the Software Secrets books.
This gets your referrals into their own specific funnels and you’ll earn commissions on all the upsells as well.
Here are a couple of ideas to make some extra money with Clickfunnels:
You could become a ClickFunnels consultant and create niche specific sales funnels that you could sell to small businesses in that same niche.
Sales funnels also make great lead magnets or bonuses in many niches. They are a great way to get your readers into your own funnel by offering something valuable they can use themselves.
Honestly, the opportunities are endless with this, and a lot of people are making good money with ClickFunnels by taking advantage of the share funnels feature.
Wrapping your head around all that ClickFunnels can do may seem daunting at first. But this is helped by the most impressive on-boarding process I’ve seen in a software product.
When you first sign up, you’re presented with the 7-day challenge. It consists of 4 different games with each one having a number of steps to complete.
Every step features a task and a short video clip of Russell explaining what you need to do to finish it.
The first game walks you through the process of building your own Hero Funnel, while the 2nd and 3rd games introduce you to the Funnel Cookbook and the Funnel University.
Finally, the last game is a Launch Checklist that walks you through everything you need to do before having your funnel go live.
Although the whole process is optional, if you complete all the steps you will “win” some prizes including a ClickFunnels t-shirt and some stickers.
I found the whole process to be really valuable. It’s essentially an interactive ClickFunnels tutorial where you learn how to use ClickFunnels itself and the philosophy and value of using the software for your own business.
I highly recommend you go through it first when you sign up.
How is their support?
My ClickFunnels review couldn’t be complete without this!
Their support is fairly good in my experience, although a little slow in responding. They use Intercom, so you can directly ask questions in the live chat box. Support requests are usually answered within a few hours and I found the staff to pretty helpful to all my questions.
Do I need my own domain name?
You do not necessarily need your own domain name to launch a funnel, although I would recommend it. If you don’t have one then your funnel url will look something like http://username.clickfunnels.com.
One nice bonus that I didn’t know about is that ClickFunnels will buy you your first domain name for free and even set up SSL on it for you. You can learn how to do this from the first game in the onboarding training.
Do they have an active community?
Both groups are extremely active and it’s a great place to get answers to get feedback on your sales funnels and answer any questions you may have.
There are also several other FB groups run by ClickFunnels affiliates which are also very active.
What integrations do they offer?
For payment gateways, ClickFunnels integrates with Stripe, Paypal, Clickbank, Infusionsoft, Authorize.net and a few others. The one limitation with using Paypal though is that it does not support One Click Upsells or One Time Offers. That’s why I would highly recommend going with Stripe if you can.
What is Funnel Hacks?
If you’re looking to get the $297/mo. Etison Suite plan, then it’s definitely worth it to sign up with Funnel Hacks instead to save some additional money.
For $997, you’ll get six months of the Etison Suite plan which is $1782 in value.
You’ll also get a bunch of additional training including the 6 Week Funnel Hacks Master Class, Instant Traffic Hacks, Inception Secrets and more.
First of all, you need to have a product or service to sell. If you don’t have something to sell, then don’t even bother looking into ClickFunnels before you do. Unless you just want to promote it as an affiliate.
Next, you need to be willing to invest time and money into creating your value ladder and building out your entire sales funnel.
That means at least creating a lead magnet or low-cost tripwire product to get customers into your funnel. And coming up with appropriate upsells, order bumps and other OTOs that complement or enhance your main product offering.
If you’re unclear how to start, I would take a look at Russell’s own multi-million dollar sales funnels to give you inspiration.
Read his book DotComSecrets where he explains exactly the why and how of creating sales funnels and how to tell stories to sell your products.
And as you go through his own sales funnels yourself you can see how he goes from low-cost tripwire (DotComSecrets) to selling his flagship product (ClickFunnels).
By creating his own community of raving fans he can then upsell his various other products and events like Funnel Scripts, Funnel Hackers Live, and more.
Once you’ve gone through his funnels, then you can take the parts that apply to your own business and create a plan for your own sales funnel. Once you have that in place, you will be ready to start making money with ClickFunnels.
The cost is $97 per month, well worth it for everything you get. You can read my more detailed review here: The 2018 Ultimate Guide to Clickfunnels Price
Which software you go with depends on your requirements and the amount of work you are willing to invest in your business.
Although many of you are selling standalone products, are you willing to put in the effort required to create a quality sales funnel?
If not, then ClickFunnels might be overkill for you. You can collect leads or sell your front end product more cheaply using alternative services.
However, if increasing the lifetime value of your customers sounds valuable to you, then I really recommend giving ClickFunnels a try.
Not only to get access to the software but also because the training you will learn will be both inspiring and enlightening.
Take advantage of the ClickFunnels 14-day free trial, and see if you can use it to grow your business today.
So before we wrap up the Clickfunnels review let me tell you a little about something special my team put together…
In 1 word… Actionetics.
Keep an eye out because my Clickfunnels review will be updated again soon 🙂
